I help children grow and thrive!

Welcome to Reading Growth Education! I offer personalized one-on-one and small-group instruction that not only fosters academic growth but also instills a love for learning in all students. With over six years of teaching experience, I have transitioned from the general education classroom to start Reading Growth Education. This shift allows me to cater to students’ needs with enhanced engagement and precision, ensuring a more effective learning experience for each student.

My educational journey began at Montana State University, where I earned a B.A. in English. I further honed my skills at the University of Colorado, Denver, graduating with an M.A. in education, with a focus on early literacy.  With a rich experience of teaching in both private and public schools, I have catered to students from kindergarten to sixth grade. My approach to education is rooted in the belief that every student is valuable and capable, and I strive to foster strong connections with both students and their families.

I am Orton-Gillingham, trained through the Institute of Multi-Sensory Education, and I have provided evidence-based reading instruction for over seven years. Systematic, explicit literacy instruction promotes the growth and confidence necessary for a lifelong love of reading. Evidence-based instruction is particularly advantageous for struggling readers.

I am completing coursework in multi-sensory math instruction through the Atlantic Seaboard Dyslexia Education Center and Marilyn Zecher. Multi-sensory math instruction is based on Orton-Gillingham principles and promotes student growth. It is essential for students with dyslexia, dyscalculia, working memory deficits, and ADHD.

As a gifted and talented advisor for grades K-8, I coached and collaborated with classroom teachers to provide over one hundred students with individualized advanced learning plans (ALPs). I also provided math enrichment groups and accelerated math instruction for gifted students.

As a parent of two twice-exceptional children and a certified teacher, I know that school has bumps in the road for many students. My experience, knowledge, and emphasis on connection can be a tremendous source of support to struggling students.

In my free time, I love spending time with my family and friends, walking, drinking excellent coffee, spending time in nature, and reading.
